Menudo menudo menudo! Excellent menudo spot, but I don't recommend it for first timers. The soup comes unspiced and you can add spices & lime to your exact specifications. What makes this extra special is the fluffy toast served with the meal. I removed a service star because the credit card fee wasn't mentioned at checkout.

La Cocina Dona Clara Monday, December 2 at 9:00 am The dining room at La Cocina Dona Clara is filled with color. Hand carved, brilliantly painted booths and tabletops line the room. Traditional murals and art fill the walls. The ceiling is festooned with colorful Papel Picado garlands. It is all a great introduction to our breakfast. We were greeted warmly and had our pick of tables. Our server came promptly with a warm hello and beverages immediately following. My large and colorful cup was filled with excellent coffee. The menu offers a wide variety of authentic Mexican dishes. I ordered a Breakfast Burrito, a huge flour tortilla filled with sausage, potato and egg, smothered in a delightfully spicy green chile sauce with lettuce and tomato on the side. My husband had Huevos Al Gusto with authentic Mexican chorizo, refried beans, potato, topped with 2 eggs over easy, a big dollop of sour cream, chopped lettuce and tomato. The Huevos were served with red chili sauce and a very spicy and hot yellow chili sauce on the side. All of the food was very flavorful and especially delicious. The ambiance is quiet (68 dB) and very conducive to conversation. There is a take out window near the entrance doing a brisk business. I can understand why. Prices are reasonable. We will be back

Great, tasty, affordable Mexican food. They have a variety of dishes gorditas, tortas, enchiladas & menudo. I tried the chilaquiles and the chili was tasty without being way too spicy.

Absolutely delicious food every time I’ve gone, whether I pickup or get it from DoorDash it’s just as good. Their tacos are my absolute favorite and I eat them at least once a week.

Good food...I ordered the plate of chile rellenos amd my wife a big bowl of menudo. The service was excellent as we were waited on right away, and brought two large cups of coffee with lots of half and half creamer available. The atmosphere and decor is genuine Mexican and Spanish is spoken freely. It's a welcome change from any cookie cutter restaurant. Our total bill was 32.00 so not too expensive considering it's in the high cost city of Santa Fe. Five stars!!!

This is your Taco Tuesday review Special: 4 Taco Cost: 1 2.00 La Cocina del Donna Clara There are plenty of options, with eight different types of tacos, each with its own toppings. Beans and rice are available at an extra cost. The asada was one of the best we’ve tried—juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly.. On the side, the pico de gallo was fresh, the red salsa had a nice spicy kick, and the green salsa was tasty and well-balanced. The meal was enjoyable, and the service was good, but things took a turn when the bill arrived. We ordered three orders of four tacos, expecting to pay 36.00 based on the menu price of 12.00 per order. However, we were charged 42.00, as if we had ordered six orders of two tacos instead. This unexpected price difference was frustrating, despite the great food. The tacos were delicious, but the pricing confusion was disappointing.

We met Dona Clara and her son. The food was great: we had menudo, 4 beef tacos, and an horchata drink. The menudo had the right balance of tripe, hominy, and broth and it came with three little containers with chopped onions, oregano, and dried red peppers and also half a lime. It was barely spicy, perfect for me, but they also give you red or green chile sauce. The tacos were also very good. All for 21.58.
